JW's 2019 Winter Jamboree by Ema D.
Updated: Dec 30, 2019
It’s that time of year again, many students’ favorite event, the Jamboree! If you are not familiar with the JWMS Basketball Jamboree, it is a school-wide fundraiser for Daniel Garcia Beech, one of JW’s former students. He unfortunately died of osteosarcoma in 2016, which began the Because Of Daniel organization, where all funds go to research for osteosarcoma, a deadly bone cancer.
The Jamboree will be raising money for the Because Of Daniel organization, and the more money we raise, the more prizes we get! If you are still confused about what you get to do during the Jamboree, here’s the whole shebang in a brief summary. For the entire day, teachers/staff and students play basketball against each other. During your P.E. period, you will be able to either watch the game or play! If you were a Quarter 1 Heart Student, you have the opportunity to be entered into a raffle to be able to watch and/or play for the Jamboree ALL DAY LONG! It gets even better, the Jamboree will be broadcasted through the classroom Promethean boards. It is one of the best days of the year, and this year will be no disappointment. Let’s go, students!
