I am honored to announce that a D&D club is coming to Julius West Middle School in the fall of 2026!

Summary of Dungeons and Dragons
D&D is a role playing adventure game, also known as an RPG. If you like video games where you are fighting monsters and completing quests, consider D&D. The basic setup is that you make a character using a character sheet.
Then, in the club, you team up and try to complete a campaign; an adventure told and described by the dungeon master, or the DM.
Who made the club?
Eleanor A., Aliana A. and friends, sixth graders (as of May 2026). Here is an interview with them:
What made you want to bring this club to JW?
We love D&D, and wanted a group to play with. So, to us, the logical answer was to start a club.
Who is the sponsor and where will the club meet?
The sponsor is Mrs. Greaves and we will meet in her room; room 120.
What day of the week will the club be meeting?
We are not sure yet, but are leaning towards Thursdays.
Who will be the dungeon master? (Also known as the DM)
After a heated argument, we have decided that I (Eleanor) shall be DM, but the whole club gets to say an element of the story they each want and we will work it in.

A classic set up of D&D, showing the different races and abilities you can have. And also how you spend the entire time with friends!
Different races:

Aasimar: The “good” version of a Tiefling (see below) – But without the horns, and somewhat pointy ears.

Dragonborn: A mortal with the soul and blood of a dragon. Some of them can breathe fire.

Dwarf: A very short, strong, crafty version of a human in D&D.

Elf: Very straight-forward. You know, pointy ears, kinda long lifespans, that kinda thing!

Gnome: Not your average garden gnome. Still very short, though, but with pointy ears and inventive engineering.

Goliath: Human descendant of a giant. Often very tall and very strong. Once you reach a certain level you can grow taller.

Halfling: If you have ever seen The Lord of the Rings, they are close to a Hobbit. They are very cheery and love to consume food–just like Hobbits.

Human: …I think you already know who they are!

Orc: Again, if you have seen The Lord of the Rings, they are just like the orcs from that film/book too.

Tiefling: The descendant of a demon or devil. They have horns, tails, and otherworldly eyes.
Ability:
Barbarian: A fierce, rage-fueled warrior of the wields who relies on brute strength and unmatched durability.
Bard: An inspiring musician and magical jack-of-all-trades who uses performance to buff allies, debuff enemies, and cast spells.
Cleric: A champion of a deity who wields divine magic for healing, protection, and devastating radiant spells. (For the record, we are all going to die if we don’t have a Cleric!)
Druid: A guardian of the natural world who channels nature magic and can shapeshift into any beast they have seen. (My personal favorite!)
Fighter: A master of martial combat and weaponry who can adapt to almost any fighting style.
Monk: A disciplined martial artist who performs mystical, lightning-fast physical strikes on enemies.
Paladin: A crusader bound by a sacred oath, acting as a heavily armored fighter with martial art abilities and healing abilities.
Ranger: A surveillant, tracker, and expert in ranged and melee combat who can do martial arts and nature magic.
Rogue: A stealthy, cunning scoundrel who relies on traps, precision, and sneak attack damage.
Sorcerer: A spellcaster who uses rare, raw magic granted to them by a unique bloodline or cosmic event.
Warlock: A wielder of arcane magic who gains their abilities by making a pact with an other-worldly supporter.
Wizard: A scholarly magic-user who learns and memorizes intricate spells from a spellbook to shape reality.
