What is it?

Everyone is familiar with this screen. Ever since it was discovered, almost all 6th graders have been playing it. Named OvO, it is found on the seemingly innocent website “Mortgage Calculator,” which is a real calculator, except that by pressing just 1 button or searching on Google “Mortgage Calculator Games” you can have access to a few dozen money games, some of which are not even actual money games, but instead are fun, no learning games.

What do you do in the game?

This game is a pretty simple game, without the many colors of other typical games. You try to run, jump, and slide through obstacles like rocket launchers and spikes to reach a flag, which is like the portal to the next level. It is similar but simpler than the actual educational game “Context Clue Climber” on Ereading Games.

How did it spread?

It first started with only a few students knowing about it, but it quickly spread to many other kids, and eventually, almost the whole 6th grade. Many kids were competing to beat it, and many did, and they started trying to actually help others to beat it. The game was quickly one of the most popular games in 6th grade.

What happened to it?

On the morning of October 14, 2025, everything was okay, and many students were playing OvO, but during the transition from 2nd period to 3rd period, OvO got blocked. I got on my computer and since it was the last tab I was on, it was still on my screen. Everything reloaded, and then I saw the Blocked Website screen in place of OvO. I was surprised, and I heard many other students talk about it. They were obviously surprised, and they didn’t look too happy. It was a good game, but way too many people were playing it, and MCPS eventually found out about it and blocked it. Goodbye, OvO.
