Book Review: Halfway Normal by Shoshana P.

Updated: Jan 16, 2020

Norah just wants to be "normal." Sound familiar? In Halfway Normal by Barbara Dee, Norah enters seventh grade after missing two years of school due to cancer. She hates how everyone treats her differently and how her parents won’t let her do all the normal things she wants to do. So, when she’s put in eighth-grade math and science classes and meets a cute boy named Griffin, she doesn’t tell him she’s “the girl who had cancer.” Despite being an uncommon experience, the story is told in such a way that every middle schooler can relate to it.
